September

September is the first month of autumn. The weather is different now. The days are still warm, but the nights are cool. The sky is sometimes blue and sometimes gray. The wind becomes stronger, and it often rains. People begin to wear warm clothes again.
In September, the leaves on the trees change their color. They become yellow, red, and brown. The ground is full of fallen leaves. You can still see some summer flowers, but not many. Apples and other fruits ripen, and people pick them in gardens and on farms. There are also many mushrooms in the forest. People go to pick them, but they must be careful, because some mushrooms are not good to eat.
In this month, many birds get ready for their long flight to the South. You can see more birds in the sky than in August. They come together in big groups called flocks. Most land birds fly at night, and they rest and eat during the day. Swifts, geese, and some ducks fly in the daytime. They go to warm countries because winter is coming soon.
September is a beautiful month. It is not too hot and not too cold. It is the time between summer and winter, full of colors, wind, and change.
