Why Rabbits Have Short Tails

Once there was a white rabbit. His name was Bunny. He lived in a little house in the forest. Bunny liked to sit on the grass near his house.
One day he saw a red fox. He said, "Hello, Mrs. Fox! Where are you going?"
"I am going to the town," said Mrs. Fox. "I want to buy a new red tail."
"Oh, please, Mrs. Fox," said Bunny. "Buy a tail for me too! Look, I don't have a tail."
"All right," said the fox and went away.
In the town Mrs. Fox bought only one tail. It was a beautiful red tail. Then she ran home to the forest.
In the forest she saw Bunny again. Bunny looked at the fox's tail and said, "Oh, what a nice tail you have!" "And where is my tail?"
"I am sorry," said Mrs. Fox. "There was only one tail in the shop."
Poor little Bunny! He felt very sad. He had no tail at all.
Then a dog came to Bunny and asked, "What is the matter, Bunny?"
"Oh," said Bunny, "all the animals have tails, but I don't have one."
"Don't worry," said the dog. He ran to the cat and took a little piece of the cat's tail. Then he gave it to Bunny.
"Thank you very much," said Bunny. "Now I have a tail, too! It is a short tail, but it is a tail!"
That is why rabbits have short tails.
