Lily and Jimmy

Lily and Jimmy are hungry. Their little puppy Roombo is hungry too. There is no bread on the table. There is no cheese in the cupboard. Jimmy’s mother is not at home. His sister Polly is at school. Mr. Dale is in the forest with Reni. The children sit in the garden and think about food.
There are apples in the apple tree. The apples are red, round and juicy. But the apples are high. Jimmy looks at them. Lily looks at them too. The puppy looks at them, but he cannot eat them. The children want apples very much.
“Can you bring a long stick, Jimmy?” asks Lily. “Yes, I can,” says Jimmy. He goes, takes a stick and comes back. Lily says: “Give me an apple, Jimmy.” But Jimmy cannot get one. He says: “The apples are high in the tree. I have no apples.”
“Take the stick, Jimmy!” says Lily again. But Jimmy does not know how. He is sad. Then Lily takes the stick. She hits the tree. One apple falls down. Roombo runs and takes the apple. Lily and Jimmy laugh. They are happy. It is a good day.
