Do They Speak English, Too?

An Englishman is talking with an American shop-girl.

“What are you?” she asks him at last.

“I am a Negro,” answers the Englishman who likes a joke.

“But you are white,” she says.

“I am white in the morning, and I am black in the evening.”

“Oh, It is very interesting! When did you come to America?”

“Yesterday.”

“Only yesterday? But you speak very good English.”

“I lived in London.”

“Oh! Do they speak English in London, too?”
