The Eagle on a Star

Once upon a time, an eagle named Davy lived on top of a mountain in Wales. He liked to fly high up in the air. One day, he flew so high that he came to a star.
There was a little house on the star. Mary and her little lamb lived there. Davy knocked on the door.
“I’ve come for tea,” he said. So Mary laid the table, and they all sat down.
“Would you like some cake, Eagle dear?” said Mary.
“No, thank you,” said Davy. “I’d like to eat a little lamb.”
“Oh, you haven’t washed your claws,” said Mary, and she picked Davy up and took him to the kitchen to wash.
While he was there, Mary came back and whispered something in the little lamb’s ear.
Davy came back and sat down.
“Would you like some more cake, little lamb?” said Mary.
“No, thank you,” said the little lamb, for he remembered Mary’s words well. “I think I’d like some eagle.”
Davy was surprised and a little afraid. So when Mary asked him again what he would like, he said, “I think I’d like some cake, please.” So Mary gave him some.
And after tea, he said good-bye to Mary and her little lamb, and flew home.
Before he went to bed that night, he looked up and saw the star high up in the sky.
