Old Acquaintances

Once a young composer brought his new piece to Rossini. While the famous musician was listening, he kept taking off his hat and putting it on again every minute.
"Is it that warm in here?" asked the young composer.
"No," said Rossini, "but I always take off my hat when I meet an old friend — and there are so many of them in your composition that I have to bow again and again."
