On a Bus

When a young girl got on a bus, an old man near the door tried to stand up. She put her hand on his arm and said, “Thank you, but please don’t do that. I can stand.”

“I cannot take your seat,” said the girl.

“My dear girl,” said the old man at last, “you may take my seat or not, but I want to get out of the bus.”
