Merry Rhymes

The story I want to tell you is all about very nice people: uncle James, aunt Mary, and their little girl Sue.

Sue likes to paint. One day she painted a cat and gave it the name of Mew.

“Mew,” said Sue,

“I like you!”

“Thank you, Sue,” answered Mew.

“I like you, too.”

Then Sue showed the picture to her uncle and aunt. They liked it very much. Aunt Mary said:

“Oh, what a good cat!

There is a mouse

Who lives in our house.

We want a good cat.”

“Thank you,” said Mew.

“I shall help you.

Don’t be afraid of mice;

As food they are very nice.”
