March

March is the first month of spring. The weather begins to get warmer, and the days become longer. People feel happy because winter is ending and spring is coming.
In March the snow begins to melt, and the rivers start to flow again. The birds begin to return from warmer countries. You can hear their songs in the morning. Do not forget to make bird-houses and put them in the trees. The birds need homes and food after the long winter.
You can see the first flowers in March. Small green leaves appear on the trees, and buds start to grow. Snowdrops and crocuses are often the first flowers to bloom. People like to walk in the parks and fields to see the signs of spring.
On March 21 the day is as long as the night. This is called the spring equinox. After this day, the days will be longer than the nights, and the sun will shine more. March is the month when nature wakes up and everything begins to grow again.
