The Thames
0:00/0:00

The Thames is not a very long river. It is about three hundred and thirty kilometers long, and it runs into the sea. English people call it "the Father of London". The City of London began on the River Thames.
When we go on a ship up the Thames, we pass under many bridges — London Bridge, the Tower Bridge, and others. There is a museum of old ships on the Thames. These ships are from the history of Great Britain. One of these ships is the "Discovery". It went to the South Pole from 1901 to 1904.
If we go down the Thames, we pass the Port of London and come to Greenwich, a very old town. There we can see the place where the Greenwich Meridian passes.
