Dear Mary,
Many thanks for your letter. Thank you very much. Today I want to tell you about a school sports day. We had this sports day last week. It took place at the town stadium. It was in a big place.
First we had a parade. It was a parade of all the teams. The teams were from the town’s schools. They carried sports flags. The flags were colorful. There were races. There was long jump. There was high jump. There was also volleyball. There was also basketball.
A pupil from our school won first place. He won first place in the 100 meters race. Our team also came first. They came first in the 400 meters race. We were happy.
Our best events were volleyball and basketball. In volleyball our girls’ team won first place in the town. In basketball our boys’ team won all the matches. They won every game.
But I am sorry to tell you something. Our boys and girls were not very good in some other events. They did not win in those events.
When all the competitions were over, the schools with the best results received prizes. Our school won second place. Many of our boys and girls got prizes. They were happy.
It was a very interesting sports day. We all enjoyed the competitions. We had a good time.
I am waiting for a letter from you. Will you tell me more about sports? Tell me about sports in England. Tell me about sports in your school.
Your friend,
Giulia
