Resolving a Small Conflict Between Friends

Lisa: Hi, John. Can we talk about something?
John: Sure, Lisa. What's wrong?
Lisa: I was upset yesterday when you cancelled our plans. You told me very late.
John: Oh, I'm really sorry about that. I had a big problem at work and I couldn't leave.
Lisa: I understand, but you didn't call or text me. I waited for an hour.
John: You're right. I wanted to tell you, but I was very stressed and I forgot. I'm sorry.
Lisa: It's okay. I just felt a little sad. I know you are busy, but a short message is always good.
John: I promise it won't happen again. Next time I will text you if I have a problem.
Lisa: Thank you. I don't want this to be a problem for our friendship.
John: Me neither. You are an important friend to me and I don't want to make you sad.
Lisa: I feel the same way. Let's forget about this and do something fun this weekend.
John: That sounds great. How about we go to that new cafe you wanted to try?
Lisa: Perfect. I can't wait. Thanks for talking with me, John.
John: Thank you for telling me how you felt, Lisa. I'm glad we talked.
Lisa: Me too. See you on the weekend.
John: See you then.
