When Benjamin Franklin was a young man, he once traveled from Philadelphia to Boston. On his way, he stopped at an inn. The innkeeper, like many people in those days, was very curious and liked to ask many questions.
Franklin sat down to have his supper, but the innkeeper started asking him questions at once — about his journey, his home, and the news from other places. Franklin decided to stop this at once.
He asked the innkeeper to call his wife, children, and servants — the whole household. When everyone came, Franklin smiled and said, “My good friends, I asked you all to come because I want to tell you about myself. My name is Benjamin Franklin. I am a printer, nineteen years old. I live in Philadelphia, and I am now traveling to Boston. If you want to know more, you may ask me, and I will tell you. But please, now let me eat my supper in peace.”
