A group of British tourists wanted very much to go to Paris and see the Olympic Games. They thought that a bus was the best way to travel. So, one sunny day they left London in an old bus.
Of course, the tourists did not know what adventures they would have on the way. When they were near Dover, the old bus broke down. They had to find another bus. They found one, but it was also very old and no one knew in what year it was made. It could go no more than fifty kilometers an hour. But the tourists bought this bus because every kilometer they traveled brought them closer to Paris.
When they were near Calais, they had another adventure: the windscreen wipers of the bus did not work. There was a lot of rain, and the driver could not see the road very well. But this did not stop the tourists. They tied strings to the windscreen wipers, and two people moved them by hand all the way to Paris.
When they finally arrived in Paris, they all laughed a lot and told the story of their adventures.
They said: “Even if the engine of our bus had broken down, we would have pushed the bus with our hands.
We all wanted very much to get to Paris.”
