Fred’s Dog

Fred, a young boy, had a clever dog called Dash. Once somebody stole Fred’s dog. After some time Dash returned to his master with a long string round his neck. Later Fred found out who the thief was and both of them came to court with one and the same request — each one asked for his pet. The judge asked Fred: “Can you give any proof that you are the owner of the dog?”

Dash knew many funny little tricks, so Fred whispered something into the Dog’s ear and made Dash go through the tricks, and everybody in the courtroom began to laugh.

Then the judge asked the thief to make the dog do the same things; but Dash did not move at his commands.

Now the judge saw that the dog really belonged to Fred. So the boy and his dog could go home, whereas the thief got some strict punishment.
