Fred, a young boy, had a clever dog called Dash. One day, somebody stole Fred's dog. After some time, Dash returned to his master with a long string around his neck. Later, Fred found out who the thief was. Both of them went to court with the same request. Each one wanted his pet.
The judge asked Fred, "Can you give any proof that you are the owner of the dog?"
Dash knew many funny little tricks. Fred whispered something into the dog's ear, and Dash performed the tricks. Everybody in the courtroom began to laugh.
Then the judge asked the thief to make the dog do the same things, but Dash did not obey him.
Now the judge knew that the dog really belonged to Fred. So the boy and his dog went home happily, while the thief received a strict punishment.
