In Westminster Abbey in London, there is a large stone with a very interesting history. Many hundreds of years ago, it was the special seat where the kings of Scotland sat when they were crowned. People called it the Stone of Destiny. It was a symbol of power for the Scottish kings.
Later, when Scotland became part of Britain, the English king wanted to have this stone in London. The stone was taken from Scotland to England. A large chair was made for the coronation of English kings, and the Stone of Destiny was placed inside the seat of this chair. The chair was kept in Westminster Abbey, a very old and famous church in London.
Since that time, all English kings and queens have sat on this chair when they are crowned. It is a very old tradition. Many people visit Westminster Abbey to see the chair and the stone. They remember the long history of the kings and queens of Britain, and the connection between England and Scotland.
