The little mice stay in their holes,
And hide themselves by day;
But when the house is still at night,
The mice come out to play.
They climb upon the pantry shelf,
And eat the bread and cheese;
They drink the milk; they eat the cream,
And anything they please.
But if they only hear the cat,
Their feast at once is done;
They run away to hide themselves
As fast as they can run.
