Ben's Hobby

Ben’s hobby is playing chess. He likes this game very much and tries to play it every day. Ben is still learning how to play well. He often plays chess with his father in the evening. Chess is not an easy game. When Ben plays, he must think carefully and try to guess what his father will do next. This game helps him learn to plan and to think before he moves.
Sometimes Ben plays chess with his friend John. They like to play in the garden or at John’s house after school. John plays chess very well, and he often wins. He says that chess helps him in other things too. For example, when he plays football, he tries to think like in chess — to see the field like a big chessboard and plan his next move. Both boys enjoy playing chess because it is fun and helps them become smarter.
